The 2023 CATGUT Is Over.
Thank You For All Of The Support!
The 2023 CATGUT has come and gone. Thank you to everyone that volunteered, participated as a fundraiser, and purchased a raffle ticket. With all of your help we raised over $11,000 to support the Catamount Trail Association.
Raffle prizes have been awarded and you can find the winners below.
For 2024 we are going to pause the CATGUT to allow the CTA staff to focus on another big project. During the winter of 2024 the gentleman that first skied from one end of Vermont to the other are reuniting for another end-to-end trip to celebrate the 40th anniversary of the Catamount Trail Association. There are still many details to be figured out, but we will share as things come together.
Thank you again everyone! We are very fortunate to serve the amazing community of backcountry skiers and riders here in upper right corner of the US. We appreciate all of you!
Think Snow!

Here at the Catamount Trail Association (CTA) we believe skiing is about more than standing on a podium, hucking cliffs, and shralping the gnar! It's about spending time outdoors, being active, enjoying winter, and sharing these experiences with friends. We also believe that these experiences should be available to everyone. The CATGUT was created as an excuse to come together as a community and celebrate our collective love of the snowy parts of the year.
For The Love Of Winter
The CATGUT is a skate or classic ski experience for all ages and abilities, and it's an opportunity to give back to the backcountry community and support the CTA and our work. The CTA has spent the last 39 years facilitating life-changing winter experiences, and working to protect and expand access to Vermont's mountain lands. This work enhances everyone's quality of life, and is one of the many reasons Vermont is such a wonderful place to spend time whether you call it home, or are just visiting.
The CATGUT is also an opportunity to challenge yourself, and maybe bite off a little more than you're used to chewing. It's a chance to attempt something difficult, something that will enhance your life, something that will make a difference to others.
A Catamount Trail Association Fun-Raiser
The Catamount Trail Association is a member and donor supported organization, and 100% of the funds raised through this event will go to support trail conservation and maintenance, helping the CTA continue its work to protect 100% of the Catamount Trail, the worlds longest backcountry ski trail.
Please consider joining us on Sunday, March 12th at the Craftsbury Nordic Center for the 2nd Annual CATGUT Charity Ski Event. It's going to be a fun day of exploring and celebrating a shared fondness for sliding on snow!
